Design Statement

Everybody is a play about what the prospect of death means to your average human and what meaning is derived from life, exploring themes of connection, community, selfishness/selflessness, and nature. The show has a little bit of a story book feel to it, shifting between teaching morals and explore the emotional impact of death taking almost everything from you. The light design mainly helped to establish location for the piece. Shifting from broader brighter scenes for the lottery, family/love/death/kinship/etc, to dimmer moments with deeper colors for Everybody’s monologues, and shadowy ominous feelings looks for god and the final death.
